Mestica, a calculated blend of ceruse, gesso, burnt umber pigment and marble dust, creates a field of black depth. This method, popularised by Caravaggio and combined here with the technique of glazing, brings out the subtle play of chiaroscuro by merging light and dark areas into a final visual synthesis that transcends dualities.

Casein, acting as a quick fixative, does away with revision in favour of decisive execution. Applied to wood, it gives a matt texture that contrasts with the sheen of the glazes. Working with casein demands a precise and irrevocable hand. The last gesture, like a final signature, lends depth and tone to the work, marking the focal point and the conclusion of the pictorial narrative.

Fire, the object of a controlled transformation, can appear and disappear at will, suggesting a cycle of regeneration. In this series, a receding line merges with a figurative horizon that emerges for the first time, leaving verticality behind for a horizontal perspective and evoking a new beginning through the perpetual cycle of fire.
